Pendix GmbH

Pendix GmbH produces and sells a highly efficient electric drivetrain for bicycles. The drivetrain is suitable both for installation by bicycle manufacturers, and as a retrofit. Pendix’ offering is aimed at bicycle manufacturers as well as directly at private and business customers in the domestic market. The bicycle retail trade and customers based abroad are addressed via distributors and wholesalers.

In 2019, Pendix acquired a manufacturer of cargo bikes through vertical integration, directly targeting the market of postal service providers and operators of bicycle fleets. The core competence of the founding team is in the field of control electronics and software for electric motors.

Pendix was founded in 2013. In the same year, TGFS joined the company as a seed investor. Subsequently, the company was supported by four financial investors and was able to become a force in the bicycle market. In 2022, the exit took place in the course of the sale to the Johnson Electric Group, a leading global supplier of electric motors, actuator components, drive subassemblies and related electromechanical components.
