Mobile quantum computers based on diamond chips and NV centers
SaxonQ GmbH
The Leipzig-based start-up SaxonQ develops and produces mobile, industry-ready quantum computers – moving away from the previous room-filling systems and towards handy, flexible units. SaxonQ was founded with the vision of transferring quantum computing from research to industrial applications, thereby facilitating access to powerful quantum hardware and software in Europe in the long term. A proven process from semiconductor technology is crucial to this. It is used to generate the qubits, the computing units of the quantum computer, on a diamond chip measuring just a few millimeters. Unlike previous quantum computers, these processors do not require cooling or complex infrastructure and are insensitive to interference. The system is already being used by major customers and is aimed at completely new applications for quantum computers, such as in artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and even in smartphones in a few years’ time.
TGFS has been supporting the company since 2025.
