eHealth app for documenting chronic wounds: TGFS invests again in sciendis GmbH

TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen invests again in sciendis GmbH from Leipzig. The company offers a digital solution for documenting wound care. Just last year, the start-up was able to raise six-figure seed financing for its product WUNDERA®. This enabled the company to successfully launch the product. In addition to TGFS, Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Sachsen mbH has also been involved with the company since 2020 through the Corona Start-up Assistance Fund (CSH), which it manages. In order to further increase sales, the team around founders Dr. Michael Aleithe and Philipp Skowron were able to raise a seed round in the seven-digit range. TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen is the lead investor and is significantly increasing its investment.

With WUNDERA®, sciendis GmbH offers a mobile smartphone application that enables easy-to-use documentation of chronic wounds in nursing care. With WUNDERA®, nursing services can optimize their processes to have more time for the patient. Especially outpatient care services in rural areas are often limited in the use of mobile applications due to a lack of internet connection. For this reason, WUNDERA® offers an offline function to ensure flawless functionality even in the event of local Internet problems.

„We are delighted about the trust our investors have placed in us. With fresh capital, we will push ahead with our growth targets with WUNDERA® and further expand sales accordingly. The successful market launch of our app shows that there is a demonstrable need for the application,“ says founder Dr. Michale Aleithe about this funding round and adds further: „With TGFS, we have a regional investor at our side who will accompany us in partnership in the upcoming steps.“

The TGFS finances technology-oriented start-ups in Saxony. Since the initiation of the VC fund in 2008 — now in its 2nd generation — more than 80 start-ups have been supported in the Free State. Since 2020, the fund has also invested in sciendis. Sören Schuster, Managing Director of TGFS, about the deal: „After a successful pilot phase, the market entry was implemented at the beginning of the year. In addition, contracts have already been signed with nationwide heavyweights. Overall, we are very pleased to be able to finance further business expansion.“
