Funding round for SmartNanotubes Technologies GmbH

02 February 2022

TGFS portfolio company SmartNanotubes Technologies raises fresh growth capital. The start-up from Freital near Dresden has developed the world’s first chip that can „smell“. The modern and patented sensor technology is based on single-walled carbon nanotubes. It is able to detect a wide variety of gas molecules and thus, among other things, warn of bad food at home or developing fires in an industrial plant. Its technology was developed at TU Dresden and formed into a SpinOff at LSI Saxony.

The € 2.4 million round is led by Cottonwood Technology Fund and strategic investor Turck duotec GmbH complemented by MBG Sachsen (as management partner of TGFS).

Investment Manager Christian John, who is responsible for TGFS, says: „With Cottonwood and duotec Group, the company around Managing Director Dr. Viktor Bezugly has found two outstandingly suitable investors. Both were able to demonstrate clear added value to us and the other existing shareholders. We look forward to the cooperation, congratulate the founding team warmly and now wish maximum success in conquering the markets.“
