IST AG (Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG) announced today that it has acquired a majority stake in Infrasolid GmbH, as part of its growth strategy. Infrasolid GmbH, a subsidiary of the Endress+Hauser Group, is a leading provider of physical, chemical and biological sensors. The Group aims to become one of the leading suppliers in standard as well as customized sensor technology. By joining Infrasolid, IST AG is expanding its product portfolio to include components for optical infrared (IR) measurement technology.

Infrasolid GmbH was founded in May 2017 as a spin-off of the Institute of Solid State Electronics at TU Dresden and currently employs 14 people. Infrasolid develops, produces and markets thermal IR radiation sources that are used in the field of infrared (IR) analytics as well as in the near-infrared (NIR) range and have better performance parameters than conventional IR radiation sources. This worldwide patented technology enables above all a stronger miniaturization and automated mass production. This is possible through a special design and still competitive performance parameters.

The fields of application of Infrasolid’s IR/NIR emitters range from gas analysis, e.g. in the areas of emission monitoring, environmental protection and safety, to the oil, gas and chemical industries, food analysis and medical applications. Due to its high miniaturization and automation potential, novel or mobile applications are also possible, e.g. in the areas of smart home, automotive, healthcare, IoT and smartphone.

TGFS has actively supported the company’s development since summer 2018 together with co-investors VNG Innovation from Leipzig, TUDAG from Dresden and WEGVISOR from Chemnitz. The team is led by Dr. Marco Schossig, Dr. Tobias Ott and Benjamin Buchbach. It succeeded in completing the product development of the Infrasolid emitters, building up its own production capacities and convincing more than 100 customers from over 20 countries to use the Infrasolid emitters. „We would like to thank our investors VNG Innovation, TUDAG, WEGVISOR as well as our lead investor TGFS for the trust they have placed in us. At the same time, we would like to thank our other partners of the Saxon ecosystem for their intensive and successful cooperation,“ summarizes Dr. Marco Schossig, founder and CEO of Infrasolid GmbH.

For TGFS, which has supported more than 80 founders and startups in the Free State of Saxony since 2008 in what is currently the second generation of funds, this is the first exit in 2022. „A big thanksgoes to the founding team of Infrasolid, with whom we have worked together in partnership and trust for four years, as well as to our Saxon financing partners VNG Innovation, TUDAG and WEGVISOR,“ says Sören Schuster, Managing Director of TGFS. He adds, „Infrasolid is an excellent example of the successful collaboration of Saxony’s startup ecosystem. Started as a deep-tech spin-off of TU Dresden, Infrasolid has gone through the SpinLab Accelerator and was funded by Saxon backers. The young start-up was able to build up production capacities at the Dresden Technology Center, benefit from the futureSax network activities and use various programs of the Sächsische AufbauBank and the MBG Saxony. The case of Infrasolid thus exemplifies the commitment with which deep-tech start-ups are supported in Saxony. We wish Mr. Schossig, Mr. Ott and Mr. Buchbach every success for their future growth projects in Dresden. We will follow its futuredevelopment with interest.“
